The DIF System can be installed on any web server.
Whenever a media file (e.g. an MP3 file, RA, WMA, etc.) is requested by a visitor to your site, the DIF system automatically and transparently retrieves the file, identifies the user, creates a fingerprint, and as it transmits the file to the user, interactively inserts the fingerprint into the file.
After that comes the followup: PAN's DIF Server will search the interent 24/7 for any files that contain a fingerprint. And anytime you find a file on the net which you want to check for a fingerprint yourself, you can easily do that too. If one of your files is found on the net with a fingerprint, you are automatically notified and given the identity of the person who downloaded the file originally. Whatever action you take after that is up to you, but we'd strongly recommend contacting the individual to let them know that YOU know who they are and how they spent their summer (so to speak).
