What is "OneSource"?
OneSource is a totally digital distribution system for the online sale and secure delivery of e-CD's through affiliated retail websites throughout the world.

OneSource is completely non-exclusive. Put your songs on iTunes, Buymusic.com, Napster, or anywhere else you want. But on your own site, link to OneSource and get paid MORE on every sale.

OneSource is a division of The PAN Network, and is built on PAN's patent-pending anti-piracy platform called "DIF", or Digital Interactive Fingerprinting. Besides protecting the downloaded tracks from abuse through online piracy, DIF also allows each e-CD to be personalized at the point of purchase. Personalization enables a buyer to recover an e-CD without having to purchase it again if they ever have a computer disk crash or otherwise lose their computer files.

What is "The Lifetime Music Guarantee"?
The Lifetime Music Guarantee insures that if someone buys an e-CD through OneSource and subsequently loses their music files in a computer disk crash, a virus attack, or some other unrecoverable data loss, they can re-download whatever they had purchased at no additional charge (i.e. free).

What is "The Whole Music Network"?
The Whole Music Network (a/k/a The Whole) is a new music promotion service that pays music shoppers for listening to new music. The Whole Music Network exclusively features artists from the OneSource catalog who wish to participate.

Research shows that 86% of internet users who listen to music online only listen to artists they are already familiar with. This makes it very difficult for new artists to be heard. In addition, research shows that 69% of internet users who listen to new music are likely to buy CD's from artists they were previously unfamiliar with. Thus, by paying people just to listen to new music, CD sales for the featured artists should increase significantly.

Can a Label/Artist also be an Affiliate/Preferred Retailer?

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it as the best way to boost payouts to the maximum; as much as 95% of the net purchase price.

What is "Payout per Unit"?

Payout per Unit is the percentage amount the copyright owner or licensee is paid from the retail selling price of each item sold.

The lowest number of the range is the base payout rate. If the label/artist also opts to become an affiliated or preferred retail outlet, any sales coming from their site reflects the additional retail cut (7.5% for affiliates, 15% for preferred retailers).

What is "Retail Sales Percentage"?

Retail Sales Percentage is the amount the retailer is paid from the retail selling price.

How do I qualify as a "Preferred" (Level 2) retailer?

A "Preferred" Retailer is achieved by retail sites that generate at least $1,000 in e-CD sales for at least 3 consecutive months. The site must also provide portal access to the entire OneSource catalog, and not limited to specific artists. If the site is a label/artist site rather than a dedicated retailer, at least half the sales have to come from titles that the site is not directly involved with.

Who sets the price?

You do. Whenever you add a title to the OneSource catalog, you are prompted for the suggested retail price you want buyers to pay.

What is an e-CD?

An e-CD is an electronic compact disc. It contains the contents of a "normal" (i.e. physical CD), including cover art, lyrics, photos, liner notes, etc. --- but is transfered entirely electronically to the buyer's PC. This saves the label manufacturing and shipping costs. These savings can then be passed on to the buyer, and thus allows the buyer to purchase music much less expensively than they could otherwise.

Do I need to produce a physical CD first?

No, although it's a good idea. e-CD's complement physical CD sales, and many buyers will prefer to buy the "real thing" rather than download it from the internet (we don't handle physical CD sales, but you can add a link your catalog entries to refer buyers to a retailer that can fill the order). Also, some users may still be using slower modems, which makes the download time to purchase an e-CD a very time-consuming process, so they might prefer to buy the physical CD.

Where are the song files stored?

PAN Members' files are stored directly on OneSource's servers. This insures immediate availability, faster processing, and reliable delivery to buyers.

I only have one song I want to sell. Do I need a complete CD?

You can sell just one track, several tracks, an entire CD, or a catalog of CD's. It's up to you.

When do I get paid?

On sales through the OneSource catalog, payments are made quarterly (i.e., every 3 months) for the previous quarter's sales.

On sales from your own website through our Paypal interface, you are paid immediately.

Can I access my sales information?

Yes, all members have 24/7 access to their accounts to see how many CD's have been sold, demographic sales info, and other pertinent data they will want to know.

What audio formats does OneSource support?

At the present time, song files must be in either MP3, RealAudio (RA), or Windows Media (WMA) format. More formats may be added at a later date.

Does OneSource support Macs?

OneSource is platform-agnostic. As long as the buyer's computer can connect to the internet and unzip downloaded files, it doesn't matter what kind of computer is being used.

However, we are aware of a problem with RealAudio files created on a Mac. If you are a Mac user and plan to submit RealAudio files to the system, pay attention to the validation process when adding titles to the OneSource catalog to make sure that the files fingerprint properly. If there is a problem, the system will flag it and tell you.

Are there any restrictions on the buyers?

There are no restrictions on the buyer other than applicable copyright laws and related software licenses, etc. Each e-CD's copyright notice is prominently displayed both before and after files are purchased and downloaded. Buyers are also made aware that their legal copy is "personalized", which should deter if not altogether prevent the uploading of files to a website, P2P/KaZaa-type network, or some other unauthorized mode of redistribution.

Buyers can use the music player of their choice to play the song files, as long as that player supports the file format designated by the label/artist. e.g., you can't play RealAudio files in a Windows Media Player, and vice-versa. But most people already have both players on their systems, so it's not a problem.

Burning or copying to other devices (e.g. portable players, etc.) for personal use is not restricted. We believe the copy-protection schemes currently in vogue act as a "sales disincentive" by putting unnecessary obstacles in front of prospective buyers. Placing limits on how people can listen to the music they buy doesn't seem like a good way to build an audience for an artist. That said, if feedback and demand from OneSource members warrants it, we will consider it an option in the future.
